Carroll received her Masters of Arts in Library Science from the University of Michigan in 1967. She worked in academic libraries in The Netherlands, Africa, and the United States before joining the faculty in 1976. Besides her role as Director of the Library, she also taught French courses in the college from 1988 to 1996. After thirty years as Director, she retired in 2016 and began working part time as Director of Swedenborgiana and New Church Research. She is now responsible for preserving and developing the New Church collections and providing research for scholars world wide on Swedenborg and the New Church.
In her spare time Carroll enjoys reading, gardening, and yoga.
