Procession

Charter Day 2024 started out like every other: a processional of students and faculty walked from the high school and the college, holding banners from years past to attend the charter day service, given by Matthew Genzlinger. The sun shone brightly as past and present students gathered on the cathedral lawn. 

Theta Alpha Luncheonnina dewees

The Theta Alpha Luncheon was a brilliant example of women getting things done. There were participants celebrating their 70th anniversary. A small group of students from ANC performed a dance to “Birds of a Feather” in promotion of Arts Night (November 15 at 8pm), President Janet Krettek spoke about their hopes to raise scholarship funds, and Nina Dewees spoke about life in a loving community: “I am so grateful for this loving community and each person that is a part of it.”

5k Walk/Run

Dozens showed up for this event run by ANC student Jack Klippenstein. Students, alumni, and community members came together to raise thousands of dollars for BAC and ANC scholarship funds.

Brunch with Leo the Lionleo raffle

Brunch with Leo brought a crowd of all ages to the Green Harvest Cafe. While young ones colored Leo coloring pages, adults mingled and bid on raffle baskets organized by Libby Allen (BA ’22). There was a Kitchen Basket, stocked with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, cutting board, salad spoons, dish cloths, pastas, and more; a Booze Basket, holding a variety of liqueurs and mixers; and a beautiful succulent, an elephant bush plant donated by Hayden Schmucker. Later that night at the alumni reception, the winners were announced: David Asplundh won the succulent, Brent McCurdy (AA ’87) won the Kitchen Basket, and Sacha Wade (attended 1995) won the Booze Basket. All together, the raffle raised $4384 for BAC and ANC scholarship funds.

Women's Soccer

Women’s soccer utilized the sunny weather and absolutely sniped the University of Valley Forge, winning 11-0. They set a new record for shots in a single game with 66, tied their single game goal record with 11, and honored their 7 seniors:  Maria StorckShea GormleyChloe MunyonKayla SmithKylie ScarpielloCiara McFeely, and Vanessa Squares.

Women's Volleyball & Alumni Game

The BAC Women's volleyball team defeated Penn College of Technology 3-1 on Saturday, followed by an alumni v. alumni match. About 15 Bryn Athyn College alumni played, and many came to support the College in their win against Penn College ahead of time.

Men's Soccer

The (men’s soccer) Lions inched out a win against Valley Forge University with a final score of 2-1. The two goals of the day were shot by Nathan Scavo and Luis Ayala.

BAC Alumni Awards and Receptionreception

“[The Distinguished Alumni Award] recognizes alumni of the College who have given back to their communities, alma mater, or church, especially by applying the values and perspectives garnered from a New Church liberal arts education.” Distinguished Alumni Awards were given to Ian Lumsden (AA ‘05), Brenna Synnestvedt (attended 1974), and Nina Finkeldey (attended 1974-1976). Additionally, the Outstanding Volunteer Award was given to Lynn-Del Sandstrom.

Monday Golf Outing

The annual student scholarship golf outing will take place on Monday, October 21.
